Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Purpose of role:

Your overall role in the company will be to keep plant down- time to a minimum, productivity high and workshop activities moving in a smooth timely and effective manner. The role will require you to work as part of a team and on an individual basis, reporting to The Reliability Engineer.

 

Key tasks:

To organise and supervise the mechanical engineers & pipe fitters to deliver the requirements of the reliability engineer in an efficient and effective manner making the best use of resources at their disposal.

This will include:

      Planning and deploying resources to meet schedule requirements
      Preparing and leading daily meetings

      Emphasising team performance and targets
      Monitoring of the team throughout the day

      Motivating and developing the team in order to achieve targets
      Conducting face-to-face handovers to operations departments & training team

      members to do the same
      Directly supervising individuals within the team as necessary

      Coaching and developing less experienced engineers

 

To guide the team in delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance and extra works/emergencies in accordance with the time and budget requirements placed on the mechanical team.

Responsible for fault finding, identifying and resolving of problems with company machinery

Involvement in shutdown maintenance planning & delivery

Ability to interpret, edit and draft mechanical drawings within AutoCAD to represent operational modifications and revisions to maintain accurate accessible records.

To make critical contributions to the development of engineering capability through participation in FMEA teams and use of predictive maintenance techniques e.g. vibration analysis, lubricant analysis

Will be responsible for the compliance with company€™s health & safety requirements in the areas and aspects of work of the personnel under their control.

Responsibilities include the training & development of mechanical engineers with particular emphasis on the training & development of apprentices.

 

Working in conjunction with the Project/design engineer to manage the logistics surrounding receipt of plant for new installations

Can be required to observe trials on site, at suppliers or customers plant, in order to evaluate potential capital equipment purchases.

Provision of written operational procedures and training manuals in respect of workshop equipment and techniques

Responsible for maintaining the workshop to a high standard and up keep of general workshop machinery

Required Qualifications and Skills: 

Mechanical engineering based qualifications of which ONC/ HNC, degree, City & Guilds would be suitable or lesser qualification and appropriate experience.

Pneumatics experience would be an advantage

This role will require some €œhands on€ activity from time to time.

You will need to have good written and verbal skills as from time to time the role will deal with people from outside the company

This role requires demonstration of a logical diagnostic approach to fault finding

Computer literacy

Ability to work within a changing environment

Ability to direct and manage a team of skilled mechanical engineers& pipefitters

Results orientated

Able to work with minimum supervision, openness and flexibility,

Experience of producing technical reports, proposals and estimates.
